UpCloud is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join our team as the Head of Business Development. Initially, as a player coach, you will be responsible for leading our BDRs while actively participating in executing strategic initiatives. This role requires a unique blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution to drive growth and maximize revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the business development team, setting clear goals and expectations.

  • Identify new market opportunities and industry trends to drive innovation and growth.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to define sales targets and performance metrics.

2. Business Development:

  • Lead by example by actively engaging in business development activities, including prospecting with high-value accounts.

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry influencers.

3. Team Development:

  • Coach and mentor the business development team and help coach other team members to enhance their skills, performance, and productivity.

  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure the team has the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the business development team.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including marketing, product marketing, and finance, to align business development efforts with overall company objectives.

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination across teams.

  • Act as a liaison between the business development team and other departments to facilitate smooth execution of cross-functional initiatives.

Job requirements

  • Proven track record of success in business development, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building rapport and establishing trust with clients and colleagues.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and identify growth opportunities.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving revenue and achieving sales targets.

  • Experience in the cloud industry or similar is a plus.

  • Excellent English skills and other languages will be an advantage.

  • A degree in Business, Tech, or other relevant fields will be an advantage.

  • Previous experience from our tooling (Salesforce, Salesloft, 6Sense, Vidyard, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and AI tools) will be an advantage.
