Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Infrastructure

UpCloud is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our development team!
In this position, you’ll have a chance to directly contribute to the evolution and success of one of our core products, by developing our Managed Kubernetes Service!
You’ll be part of a tightly-knit team of experienced developers who built the product from the ground up, now enabling our customers to run container workloads in UpCloud, through new and more sophisticated features.

Your work will consist of developing key Kubernetes components, such as cluster and infrastructure provisioning, and integrating the product with our internal systems. We prefer to build our features with user-centered design, and our work is prioritised based on our customer needs, with their engagement & based on their feedback.

Our view is that to be successful in this role, you should have relevant experience working with open-source technologies in:

• Software development (comfortable with Go)

• Container orchestration with Kubernetes

You’re also experienced in the following domains:

• Lifecycle management (for example, certificates and cluster upgrades)

• Kubernetes operators and working with custom resource definitions (CRDs)

• Advanced container networking (we use Cilium)

What does a day in this team look like?

You discuss with the team and Product Manager which relevant use cases from our customers we may prioritise. You research and build proof of concepts with your peers to help define the approach to those cases. Once validated, together you’ll develop the solution in sprints, and validate it.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’re experienced in understanding engineering problems, exploring approaches, and proactively contributing and refining those with your other colleagues.
You’re constructive in your communication, and you feel comfortable in receiving and giving feedback, even when there are different points of view.
You’re good at mentoring other colleagues, when necessary, while working together on what you’re building.

This role can be performed from our new office in the heart of Helsinki or fully remotely anywhere in Europe.
